Te Akau Midweek Update

David writes:

What an exciting two weeks it's been for Te Akau Racing.

First Derby Day at Ellerslie where we won three races, including two stakes' races, then a full week of the yearling sales at Karaka, then Auckland Cup Day plus a winning double for our Singapore stable on Sunday too.

As you can see from the latest Trainers' Premiership below - it's been a flying season for our team of horses and their owners!

Premierships are based on performances during each racing season (August 1st - July 31st). The jockey and trainer with the most wins at the end of the season are the Premiership winners.

I could talk about how disappointing it was to have so few people allowed at attend the races or the sales, but we can't change that sadly.  The exciting thing for Te Akau Racing is the quality of yearlings that we now have on the farm to train for next season and beyond - gee, I can't wait.

After going around every yearling again this morning, I know hand on heart we have never bought a better line up of yearlings and that makes the ‘Team Leader' a very happy man.

We finished up buying 37 yearlings and it's very rewarding and exciting to see the number of new owners we are welcoming into the Te Akau family, and the huge support we ae getting from our existing owners. Shares are selling at record speed, so a massive thank you to all our owners.

One yearling I am totally in love with that still has shares available is Lot 7, a filly by Ace High, the exciting young stallion out of the Tavistock mare Tellmeaboutit. A great pedigree, but as good an athletic filly as you will ever see. Strong, correct beautiful balance, and a great attitude.

Remember the record we have with the last horses to sell - they have included brilliant racehorses such as multiple Group 1 winner Avantage, Group 1, 2 and 3 winner Sword of Osman, multiple Group winner Imperatriz who is favourite for this Saturday's Group 1 Levin Classic and others!

This is a filly I can personally recommend and if you want to talk to us about this filly, call me on 021 915151 or email Karyn at [email protected]

A 10% share in this filly is $17,000 +GST and a 5% share is only $8,500 +GST.   To inspect this filly and to view her pedigree, just click here:

The Karaka Sales delivered a strong result for our industry, and I must congratulate everybody involved. To be in the environment we are in and to see the sales' results up on last year is something everyone should be very proud of and why wouldn't it be a good sale next season? There are over 80 $1 million races in New Zealand and Australia, and announcements of stake increases is something you hear about most months.

Te Akau has these races in our sights!

This week, we have runners at Matamata today, and at Trentham on Saturday and Tauranga on Sunday, so it's an exciting week coming up - best of luck to all our owners with runners.

Don't forget if you want to be involved in a horse with Te Akau Racing, give me a call on +64 21925151.

Have a great week ... and  ...

‘Go the Tangerine!'
