Te Akau Midweek Update

Well I cannot describe to you how great it is to be home at Te Akau Stud.  We travelled home from the Gold Coast yesterday and it was just such a fantastic feeling to be back at the farm.  It is great to wake up to such things as the TV One News and then to see the smiling faces of all the staff and to see what a great job they have all done while I have been away.   Everything was in tip top order and I am very proud of their efforts.

Watching the horses working at the farm this morning, I can tell you that they are all in good shape and I am really pleased with how they all look.  Even the grass is still in good shape for this time of the year and the stock look in fantastic condition.  Today we have Danny Rolston from New Zealand Bloodstock coming to inspect the yearlings that we have entered for the Karaka Sales early next year.  It is hard to believe that we are now only about two months away from our new crop of foals being born.

It's a very overcast day today here on the farm with some rain overnight.  It's a tough time of the year for our staff both at Matamata and at Te Akau with lots of rain and mud and of course those bitter early morning frosts.

I have a busy week this week and one of the highlights will be catching up with Burgundy who is now at Cambridge Stud.
