Te Akau Monday Update

David writes:

What a week we had last week - winning doubles (twice in New Zealand for Jason) and then in Singapore for Mark last night - the week unfolded like this:

Thursday in New Zealand we lined up four starters for two wins.  On Friday it was two starters and BOTH winners and then on Saturday we had two second placings, a black type fourth and a fifth from only four runners - and then at Te Rapa on Sunday another second placing.

Then last night in Singapore a further three 2nd placings and even though Mark had two wins last night with Affirmation and Golden Sand Steed taking his tally to 65 winners, you can't help but reflect on the ‘oh so close brigade' as he has now had 87 second placegetters for the season - can you imagine how frustrating that is for him?

I spent the weekend showing people our Ready to Run horses and on Sunday had two groups of first time owners to Te Akau all keen to invest in the coming yearling sales.

Next week I start inspecting all of the Karaka yearlings.  On Monday it is Haunui Farm, Tuesday to Cambridge Stud, Thursday Curraghmore Stud and Phoenix Park and finally for that week Friday at Pencarrow Stud.  Then the following week it will be Waikato Stud on Thursday and Trelawney on Friday.   We will also be inspecting drafts at Blandford, Mapperley and Valachi Downs.

If you would like to invest with Te Akau at the sale this year and come and see any of these drafts you would be very welcome to join us.

Rain is forecast for tomorrow.  Fingers crossed - it has got very dry in the Waikato.
