Te Akau Monday Update
David writes:

It's a beautiful day today in Sydney and the team was up bright and early to get out to the new Inglis Sale Complex which is situated near Warwick Farm - it's a very impressive set up and being brand new, they have been fortunate to look around the world and integrate the best of every other complex into their new operation.  There is even a hotel that overlooks the sales' ground, and doors straight through to the selling arena from the hotel.

Jamie Richards, Dan Miller, Karyn and I started the day looking at my short-list and I certainly seen some primo yearlings that I will try and buy - obviously with the sale not starting until 2pm today, we don't know how strong it will be but everything points to it being a very strong sale indeed.

It's been a busy few days since we arrived - we of course attended Royal Randwick on Saturday to support our Australian Derby runner Mongolianconqueror - whilst he didn't bring home the trophy, we have been proud of our own Derby runner-up's efforts in Australia as he is a gelding that I believe will only get better with time - bring on his 4YO season!

On Sunday Karyn and I had our usual Sydney "ritual" and spent a very pleasant lunch and few hours with Hugh and Christine Bowman, James McDonald, Katelyn Mallyon, Jamie Richards and also Dan Miller who has been in Sydney looking after the team.  It was a lovely day by the water and one with a lot of laughs and racing catch-ups.

Over the weekend we also saw a young man hit his straps and steal the show - Corey Ellis, our grandson, is only just over two and already he looks like he was born to ride - watch out Opie - Corey cleaned up with 10 year old "Sparkles" on the weekend - we are very proud of this wee man - well done Lucy and Davey, what a little ripper he is!

Time to get back out and continue our inspections of the Sydney yearlings - if you are keen to be on our priority list to receive all the information about any yearling's we purchase - remember to email Karyn without delay - [email protected]

Have a great week everyone!
