I have spent recent weeks going through the Ready to Run 2019 catalogue and again over the weekend, I re-looked at the breeze ups of each horse featured at the Ready to Run Sale, which starts on Wednesday at Karaka.

Jamie Richards, Mark Walker and I will be at Karaka each day this week. If you would like to join the Te Akau team, give me a call - you will be made to feel very welcome.
We certainly will be looking to buy some promising young horses, and across all price ranges too - there will be a share that suits you for sure.

Melody Belle comes home to Te Akau Stud tomorrow, where she will be on the best grass that you will ever see. In the very next paddock is the Te Akau Shark who is just thriving. They already know each other quite well, having been stabled side-by-side in Melbourne, so we look forward to sharing some reunion photos soon!
It has been a big week on the farm, and we have had some beautiful rain - even this morning we had 31mls fall.

This week, the beef market had the biggest lift in the last 50 years and we are now selling at record levels. We sent three units of steers and one unit of bulls last week, and the same again this week. We get 35 steers on each unit and last week, one of the units of steers killed out at 419.5kg. They were worth around $2,700 + GST each and this is a Te Akau record.
Wasn't it great to see Michael McNab win the Group 1 NZ 1000 Guineas at Riccarton on Saturday? This was his second Group 1 this season - well done Michael and all the team associated with that beautiful filly.

Interestingly enough, every Group 1 race this season so far has had a Te Akau jockey onboard, with Opie Bosson, Michael McNab and Troy Harris winning them all. All are involved with the stable and employed by Te Akau to ride track work for us.
I hope you have all had a great start to the week, and I look forward to seeing you on Wednesday at the 2019 Karaka Ready to Run Sale - a sale that Te Akau has had spectacular success at, having bought horses like Group 1 winners and performers Gingernuts, Hall of Fame, Te Akau Shark and many others.
