Te Akau Monday Update

David writes:

It is starting to turn into a really good spring, early
summer here at Te Akau Stud.

On Saturday night we had 7mls of rain and there is a lot more forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Each night I go around the farm after dinner and there is nothing more exciting than seeing plenty of grass, the lambs doing well and the cattle all on top feed. It's also great seeing the horses spelling here and especially our new arrivals from the Ready to Run Sale.

It has been a very hectic week with the Ready to Run Sale but what a success it has been. It is incredible the interest from people wanting to get involved in our great industry and we have never ever sold shares so quickly. Jamie and I had a serious young helper at the Ready to Run Sale this year - granddaughter Lucia-Rose who was taken with every part of the Sale.

There is now less than 10% left in only two of the nine horses that we purchased. Going around and looking at all the Ready to Run horses this morning has just reinforced to me, the extraordinary quality of these horses that we have purchased.

It has been difficult year, but if you would like to treat yourself to something very special, these two horses from Sale that I can really recommend and only the final shares are available.

There is just 5% in lot 219, by Darci Brahma and out of Granadilla. He is a belter of a colt that is going into the stables next week to be prepared for his racing career. The 5% share remaining is $17,890 +GST.

ONLY 5% NOW AVAILABLE IN OUR STRAPPING DARCI BRAHMA COLT

The other colt available has only 10% remaining - our Burgundy colt, out of Miss Daphne, Lot 296. This is the best Burgundy colt that I have ever seen. As I have said before, Burgundy was the fastest horse that Te Akau Racing has ever trained, and this colt is pure class - he reminds me of his late sire.

ONLY 10% REMAINS IN OUR BURGUNDY COLT

I knew I was going to buy him from the moment I first saw him at Te Rapa at the Breeze Ups. He is a truly stunning colt and this share would be an ideal Christmas present - one that would bring months and years of enjoyment to the special person in your life.

So look no further - a share in this colt would make the best present for your husband, wife or partner.

A 10% share is just $10,280 +GST, while a 5% share will cost $5,140 plus GST.

You will need to be quick, as I can guarantee that both
shares will be gone by this evening!

Good luck to all our investors who have taken shares in these horses. I hope you have bought yourself into a champion!

Speaking of Christmas, we do have Te Akau Gift vouchers available which are beautifully presented and wrapped, ready for you to present on the 25th - you can nominate any figure you wish and your recipient could use this for a share purchase from the Karaka Yearling Sale in January, or training fees etc.

It was great to win another couple of races on Saturday -
one at Awapuni and one at Counties.

It was another great training performance from our trainer Jamie Richards at Counties Racing. Te Akau delivered the quinella in the $100,000 Group 3 Counties' Cup with In a Twinkling and Savy Yong Blonk.

In a Twinkling is not an easy horse to train, but Jamie has peaked him to win the Counties' Cup two years in a row. He was beautifully ridden by our stable jockey Opie Bosson. When In a Twinkling is right, he is certainly a hard horse to beat.

Opie was bang on when he rang me on Thursday and told me just how competitive he would be due to the way he has been working this week.

IN A TWINKLING GROUP 3 COUNTIES' CUP - 2020

In a Twinkling is another really good horse that I have purchased from Gordon Cunninham's Curraghmore Stud. He is by Fastnet Rock, out of a mare that won a St Ledger. He should stay all day and a race like the Auckland Cup is certainly on his radar.

At this time of the year, we have a lot of mares and foals coming home and I can tell you that the foals by Embellish are just absolutely magnificent.

EMBELLISH FOAL OUT OF FASHION FORWARD

This horse is a real chance of making it as a successful stallion. The mares and foals are just loving the grass and are in beautiful condition. They are coming in each day in different groups to be handled.

This week we have horses racing at Te Rapa on Wednesday and
Otaki on Thursday, with lots of good chances providing the tracks are in good
order and we don't get too much rain!

All the best of luck to or owners and I would like to thank you all for investing at the Ready to Run Sale. One thing is for certain and that is our team will be doing our absolute best to bring their out their potential for you on the racetrack.
