Te Akau Monday Update

David Ellis writes - it has been a super week in Singapore with the highlight being the incredible win by War Affair in the $325,000 Group 2 Aushorse Golden Horseshoe Final on Friday night.

I think that this horse looks like the real deal and is cetainly a most exciting horse for Singapore racing - he is currently being reported as the best juvenile racing here.  When I saw him in the parade ring prior to the race, he looked marvellous and I could tell he was trained to the minute.  Mark Walker is just unbelievable with 2YOs - remember in New Zealand he broke the all time record for 2YO winners, winning 23 in one season.

Mark and I bought War Affair, the son of O'Reilly, for $70,000 at the Karaka Premier Sale from the draft of Brent and Cherry Taylor's Trelawney Stud.   I have certainly bought some very good horses from this nursery over the years.

Darci Brahma is proving a very popular sire in Singapore and OM, who is a half brother to Better Than Ever by Darci, was a certainty beaten last night.  It has been great having Matt Cameron here for the racing and he has ridden well without much luck.

It has been very wet back home in New Zealand - we fly out tonight at about 9.00pm and now our attention turns to the Gold Coast Sales where Mark and I head to next week.  If you would like to be involved with a horse from this sale, please feel free to contact me.
