Te Akau Monday Update

David writes:

Last night Golden Sand Steed won a $100,000 race in Singapore - the JRA Trophy - another great training achievement by Te Akau Singapore trainer Mark Walker.  This horse was brilliantly ridden by Te Akau apprentice Shafiq Rusof - well done team!

I purchased Golden Sand Steed at the Karaka Premier Sale for only $65,000 - he is by Pins and just take a look at the two Pins yearlings that I am currently selling shares in - the colt reminds me of Golden Sand Steed and was only $37,500!  The filly is a strong and well put together girl who cost $$65,000.

"I'll have a Pins" or "Make mine a Pins" should be what you are thinking - let me tell you why these two are such fantastic value.

I bought the good colt as I said for $37,500 from Curraghmore Stud who prepared him for Raffles Farm (who race the 'Sacred' horses).  He is a good, strong colt with a great hind leg and he was amazing value - we thought he would fetch twice that price so he was a steal.

He is currently being broken in and our breaker James Jackson thinks he has huge promise.  He is pictured here at the sale but he has really blossomed since then, we are thrilled with him.  Just think of colts such as dual Horse of the Year in Hong Kong in Ambitious Dragon, Pins is the sire of champions.

A 20% share in him is only $7500 plus GST or a 10% share just $3750 plus GST.  Drop Karyn and email if you are interested [email protected] as he really does look to have a bright future.

Another Pins yearling is our gorgeous filly out of the Encosta de Lago mare Lilies - now she is a cracker!

"She is a strong running type of filly with a terrific attitude" said Brent Taylor of Trelawney Stud who prepared her.

We love her - look at her below, she is a stunning filly that oozes class and has done exceptionally well since the sale.  Pins' fillies are also high achievers, NZB Filly of the year and Champion 3YO Katie Lee being a prize example - tough and determined, real athletes!

I really rate this filly.  We can tailor a share to suit you but a 20% share in this lass is $13,000 plus GST, a 10% share $$6500 plus GST and a 5% share only $3250 plus GST.

So why buy a share in our Pins filly or colt?

Pins performs on the world stage - his eight time Group 1 winner AMBITIOUS DRAGON is recognised as the 5th Highest Rated Galloper in the World, as a two time ‘Hong Kong Horse of the Year' and as Hong Kong's Equal Highest Rated Galloper ever.

The superstar galloper also features alongside Pins' four time Australian Group 1 winner EL SEGUNDO, as one of the highest earning NZ-breds in history.  In Singapore he has earned his high respect through the deeds of Derby winner LIM 'S PRESTIGE and multi- million dollar earner WAIKATO .

In New Zealand, Pins has been proudly distinguished by record breaking daughter KATIE LEE - the first horse in history to land the Group 1 1000 Guineas/2000 Guineas double.

As a two time winner of the Centaine Award, Pins is recognised as New Zealand's most decorated sire for Global Progeny Earnings. Honoured also in Hong Kong as its Champion Sire of 2010-11 which he repeated in 2012-13.

Pins is also rated amongst New Zealand's leading ever stakes' producers with 56 individual Stakes' Winners. They have been championed by the 10 individual Group 1 stars AMBITIOUS DRAGON , EL SEGUNDO, KATIE LEE, WAIKATO,LEGS, A TOUCH OF RUBY,POROTENE GEM , ECONSUL, LIM 'S PRESTIGE and RED GLORY.

With 69.9% Winners-to-Runners and 7.3% Stakes Winners-to-Runners, Pins' progeny nearly double the industry standard for average earnings. What's more, with eight early stakes' winners including the Group 1 star BRAMBLES, his daughters are poised to advance his value as a damsire.

BACK TO THE NEWS - this morning I had a phone call from Sam Boyd who is back in New Zealand after five months away in the States - gee it was great to hear from him!  He is coming to stay at the farm for a week in May.  Off to Sydney soon but as usual plenty to do before we go .....
