Te Akau Monday Update

We had 17mls of rain last night - music to my ears! It was nice soft rain but a lot more is needed however it's a start! It was certainly enough to get the grass growing providing we get some follow up rain in the next fortnight.

Some really good news took place over the weekend. Another â€œFULLY SOLD” sign went up - this time on Lot 59 the Zacinto colt out of Miss Avalon, the half brother to Vespa. In fact, three people have missed out so you need to get in quick to avoid disappointment!

The same result will happen this week with Lot 6, a Savabeel colt out of Kays Awake. There is only 10% now left in this stunning colt and as a usual it will sell really quickly so ring us today if you want to have a Derby runner that looks like he will grow on to be a major Cups' type of horse - Imagine having a runner in the Melbourne Cup, that's the type of horse this lad is.

A 10% share is only $15,000 plus GST or a 5% share is only $7500.

At the other end of the scale cost we have Lot 163. This colt is by Redwood out of Scarlet Queen, again a colt with a beautiful pedigree. I have spoken a bit lately about horses that I have bought who receive significant upgrades to their pedigrees and this colt is yet another example.

His O'Reilly half-sister Emerald Queen finished fourth in the Group 3 Cuddle Stakes at Trentham on Saturday, less than half a length behind the winner!  She has now won seven of her 28 starts and placed on 12 other occasions with stakes' earnings of $199,965. This colt only cost $30,000 so a 10% share is going to cost $3,000 plus GST. If you want a 2YO don't buy this colt as he is a real staying type. Again it wouldn't be a surprise to me if this horse was a Derby runner as a 3YO.

Other good news of the weekend was our Singapore apprentice winning his 100th race and Cameron Lammas winning his first ride back after yet another injury. Cameron is a really gifted horseman and rides beautiful trackwork and I am always happy to keep him on the team when Matt Cameron isn't available.

Have a great week!
