Te Akau Monday Update

David writes:

A shorter update today with the start of a very busy week ahead for everyone at Te Akau.

Yesterday our two South Island yearlings came home to the farm and what a couple of beauties they both are!  We can't wait to start breaking them in as they both have plenty of two year old fire power on their pedigree pages.

In the case of the filly (below) - I bought and we trained her mother Lady Sakura and her grandmother Lady Bay who won four stakes' races in a row.  I also bought and we trained close relative Let's Cruise so I know this family very, very well.  Remember that a 10% share is only $7575 with NO MORE COSTS until 30 April 2016!

With the colt, Jamie Richards (who went to the sale) and I believe he was the best Coats Choice in the catalogue - we felt the same way last year with Fine Choice and he has really shown us a ton of promise.  On debut in Singapore last month, he finished a gallant second in a $90,000 2YO feature - a huge effort when you realise he was also galloped on in the running.  He is currently spelling and luckily it appears his injury is not career threatening.  A 10% share in this colt is only $7375 with NO MORE COSTS until 30 April 2016.

Te Akau Stud was a very busy place today - James Jackson and his team are in full on breaking in mode, we are handling weanlings and trimming their feet, we had owners coming to see their new horses, Julia-Rose is busy taking photos of our horses and getting ready to make a new video, people here to talk about stock, Karyn had a Waikato Racing Club Board meeting but before that she had a heap of welcome packs to get in the post for owners of new shares - all in all busy, busy, busy - just how we love it!

And!! it was a beautiful warm day - great for all that grass growth!
