Te Akau Monday Update
David writes:

Another great week for Te Akau Racing with winners in Singapore and at Te Rapa and Te Aroha in New Zealand.

One special win was the the Rapa effort of our Savabeel filly Gold Fever. As you know Karyn is Chairman of the Waikato Racing Club and to support the Club, Te Akau agreed to sponsor the 2YO event.

Gold Fever won very impressively and looks like starting as one of, if not the, favourite for the Group 2 Matamata Breeders' Stakes in two weeks. Our other two top 2YOs Nucleonic and Icebomb are going to run in the Group 3 at Taranaki this weekend and the Group 1 at Ellerslie in four weeks. Nucleonic might back up in the Group 2 Matamata Breeders' Stakes - we will see how she comes through Saturday's race - we did this successfully a few years ago with Te Akau Rose who won the Matamata race after finishing third at Taranaki.

It's a pleasure going around the farm at the moment. It's just incredible how green it is and the yearlings just look amazing. Our new yearlings are selling at record speed and the team in my office is really under the pump sending out welcome packs to all our owners.

There is one colt and one filly that really stand out to me that have shares available -  the colt is Lot 76 a Savabeel colt out of Bunyah - he is a real beauty - a magnificent example of equine excellence. I could see this colt running in a Group 1 Sires' Produce this time next year and then being at Riccarton for the Group 1 2000 Guineas. He is a truly stunning colt.

Savabeel x Bunyah colt Lot 76-1

I paid $160,000 for this colt, so a 10% share is only $16,000 plus GST

If you are after a filly, have a look at this filly. I predict this filly will be in the Karaka Million next January, she is Lot 765 -

Power x Jewels Gift filly Lot 765-1
This filly is by Power out of Jewel's Gift who was a hugely talented race mare that Te Akau actually trained.  This filly is so strong and athletic, you could almost put a saddle on her right now.  Of course Power has made an early impact with Gift of Power, his 2YO filly, already a stakes' winner.

Everybody who knows me is aware that Burgundy is the fastest horse Te Akau has ever trained - I tell everyone about that fact. The only horse that could keep up with Burgundy was the dam of our filly Jewel's Gift, who Sir Patrick Hogan bought for $800,000. She had an accident and never fulfilled her enormous potential. When I saw her first foal I was pretty keen to have a good look at her, a very fast good strong filly as I say and I was thrilled when I bought her for $77,500.

There are only two shares remaining in both of these horses so if you are keen, please ring me urgently, as they will both sell very quickly.

Have a great week and a big thank you to everyone who has invested with Te Akau Racing, we have the best group of yearlings we have ever had at Te Akau Stud.
