Te Akau Motukarara Sunday Preview
3 November, 2019
Te Akau New Zealand has four horses racing on Sunday 3 November at Motukarara.
Weather: fine, track: Dead5, rail: true. No rain forecast.
1.40 p.m. R4 1 Dublin Rose (4 m O'Reilly - Irish Dream) - Corey Campbell (a2); performed well for third when second-up on 11 October in the Maiden 1200 metres at Timaru, and contests the $10,000 NZB Insurance Pearl Series Maiden 1200 metres (eligible $11,500 bonus). In the money eight out of 10 starts, she has weight relief to 55.5kgs and can be prominent with luck from barrier 10.
3.25 p.m. R7 2 Golden Age (4 g Savabeel - La Belle Epoque) - Michael McNab; raced away to win by three lengths easing down when resuming in the Maiden 1600 metres on 21 September at Riccarton, and would have had to be Kiwi - from a mile back - in the Rating 65 2000 metres there on 5 October, where he closed to seventh in the fastest last 600m (35.5). He looks a strong chance in the $10,000 Rating 65 2200 metres.
4.35 p.m. R9 4 Summer Monsoon (5 g Stratum - Princess Narine) - Michael McNab; pulled too hard and unable to finish off in the Rating 65 1400 metres on 5 October at Riccarton. Able to settle and switch off behind the pace, he is capable of a much improved showing with luck from a wide draw (13) in the $10,000 Rating 65 1400 metres.
5.38 p.m. R9 12 Miss Scandinavia (5 m Smart Missile - Miss Helsinki) - Michael McNab; got back and lacked her usual punch when third-up from a spell in the Rating 72 1600 metres on 5 October at Riccarton, given footing downgraded to Dead6. Generally a consistent performer, and winner on Good3 and Dead4, she is capable of bouncing back in the $11,000 Rating 72 1400 metres.
