Te Akau New Plymouth Friday Preview
31 October, 2019
Te Akau New Zealand has five horses racing on Friday 1 November at New Plymouth (twilight meeting).
Weather: fine, track: Dead5, rail: out 7 metres. No rain forecast.
2.38 p.m. R1 9 Zareeba (4 m Rip Van Winkle - Surooh) -
Michael McNab; appreciated the trip with a close third in the Maiden 1800
metres on 9 October at Taupo, and steps up in the $10,000 Maiden 2000 metres.
She has been served since last racing and rates an each way chance.
3.13 p.m. R2 1 Challa (3 g Dissident - Are There Any)
- Michael McNab; was extremely unlucky in his first campaign, beaten narrowly
at each of his first three starts including second in the Welcome Stakes
(Listed, 1000m), and resumes in the $10,000 Maiden 3YO 1100 metres. He finished
well for second when trialling in September at Cambridge, and ideally placed to
perform creditably fresh-up.
3.47 p.m. R3 6 Enduring Love (4 m Camelot - Holy Moly)
- Michael McNab; was somewhat unlucky not to win during her first campaign, registering
two seconds, two thirds, and three fourths. She has good form around her, close
second at her only course attempt, and capable of a bold showing first-up in
the $10,000 Maiden 1200 metres.
5.04 p.m. R5 4 Oceans Eight (4 m Ocean Park - Ruud Van
Slaats) - Michael McNab; made plenty of ground when closing strongly for fourth
on debut in the Maiden 1200 metres on 25 September at Te Rapa (a good form
race), and contests the $10,000 Maiden 1400 metres. She appears a top chance
from barrier one.
6.08 p.m. R7 8 Faltonius (4 g High Chaparral -
Faltonia) - Michael McNab; trialled well before remaining rearward amongst
horses when debuting in the Maiden Colts, Geldings and Entire's 1300 metres on
9 October Taupo, and contests the $10,000 Maiden 1600 metres. Ideally drawn
(3), an improved performance is expected with the step up in distance.
