Te Akau New Plymouth Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has two horses entered for the eight-race twilight programme on Thursday December 4 at New Plymouth.

As on Tuesday December the conditions were: fine and Dead4, rail out 6 metres.

1.28 p.m. R1 11 Seline (4 m Pentire - Dion) - Matt Cameron; fought solidly for sixth when resuming on Nov. 8 in the Maiden 1400 metres at Te Rapa, in a race run in open class time (1:21.7). Having always shaped as a staying type, she steps up in distance to contest the Maiden 1800 metres. Drawn wide, she will be ridden patiently and look to round off solidly.

5.31 p.m. R8 3 Longbeach (4 g Fastnet Rock - Betwixt) - Matt Cameron; was denied a start last Friday with the abandonment of the meeting at Otaki. In his previous race he steadied for cover from a wide draw, standing the leader ten lengths at the 600m and closed off stylishly for sixth behind winning stable-mate Tiara (O'Reilly) on Nov. 8 in the Rating 65 1600 metres at Te Rapa. A staying type - his dam, Betwixt (O'Reilly), registered the Tasmanian Derby (Gr. 3, 2200m) amongst her three wins - he increases in distance for the Rating 65 2000 metres and drawing barrier three should ensure an economical trip.
