Te Akau New Zealand Saturday Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has one horse entered for the nine-race card at Ellerslie, and one on the eleven-race premier programme at Trentham, Saturday Dec. 6.

Ellerslie:

As on Thursday Dec. 4 the conditions were: fine and Good3, rail out 4.5 metres.

1.17 p.m. R2 7 Smashing (3 f Pins - Ruud Van Slaats) - Josh Oliver (a3); had heavy rain prior to the race thwart her chances on Nov. 15 in the 3YO 1400 metres at Tauranga, after working clear late for a terrific second up win in track record time (1:09.3) on Oct. 18 in the 3YO 1200 metres at Rotorua. Meeting a small but select field in the 3YO 1300 metres, she carries five kilos less than the equal top weights and can match her rivals provided she does things right.

Trentham:

As on Thursday Dec. 4 the conditions were: overcast and Dead4, rail true.

2.05 p.m. R4 10 Show No Emotion (5 m Pins - Lynisky) - Danielle Johnson; received a good trip and did everything but win on Nov. 22 in the Rating 75 1600 metres at Avondale. Having won over 1400 metres fresh up, and finishing second twice over a mile since, she contests the Rating 85 1400 metres. On the minimum (54kgs) and drawn beautifully in barrier three, she is a hulking big mare with good levels of ability and although there will be a couple ahead of her in the betting market she is not one to be outdone.
