Te Akau North Island Saturday Preview
2 June, 2023
Te Akau Racing has five horses entered on Saturday 3 June: Avondale, and Wanganui.
Avondale:
Weather: showery, track: Heavy10, rail: true. 5mls rain forecast Friday and no rain Saturday.
11:45 a.m. R2 4 Inca Belle (3 f Per Incanto - Belle Vie) - Jess Allen (a4); she worked outside the leader and was unable to lift on the Heavy10 going in the 3YO 1400 metres on 13 May at Rotorua, won by stable-mate Accidental Tourist (Telperion). She recorded eye-catching fifth on a Soft6 track in the 3YO 1400 metres here on 25 April, having resumed in March with a win on a Heavy10 track at Tauranga. She is aided by the apprentice's weight relief to 52.5kg and is capable of bouncing back in the $30,000 3YO 1200 metres. Fixed odds: $7.50 & $2.50.
1:27 p.m. R5 1 Freeze Frame (3 g Vadamos - Snow Petal) - Niranjan Parmar (a2); he resumed with a big finish on a Heavy8 track for second in the Rating 65 1200 metres on 6 May, and fought well from last on Heavy10 conditions in the Rating 65 1300 metres on 20 May, both at Te Rapa. He won his Maiden over 1200 metres on Heavy10 going in January at Matamata, has a very consistent record, enjoys weight relief to 57.5kg, and rates a top three chance from barrier three in the $30,000 Rating 65 1200 metres. Fixed odds: $3.80 & $1.70.
1:27 p.m. R5 3 Ragamuffin (4 g Belardo - Short Tale) - Jess Allen (a4); he was unable to quicken on a Heavy10 track in the Rating 75 1200 metres on 14 May at Matamata, and drops in grade here for the $30,000 Rating 65 1200 metres. He found the line when resuming on Soft6 going in the Rating 75 1200 metres here on 25 April, has weight relief to 55kg, and is handily drawn (5). Fixed odds: $13.00 & $3.80.
2:05 p.m. R6 5 Hero Worship (4 g Xtravagant - Idol) - Jess Allen (a4); he was also unable to quicken on a Heavy10 track in the Rating 75 1200 metres on 14 May at Matamata, and contests the $30,000 Rating 75 1400 metres. His form hard to fault, has the advantage of weight relief to 53kg, and look for him to be finding the line in this small but select field. Fixed odds: $7.50 & $2.20.
Wanganui:
Weather: cloudy, track: Heavy10, rail: true. No rain forecast.
2:32 p.m. R5 1 Accidental Tourist (3 g Telperion - Megara) - Johnathan Parkes; he raced clear in the fastest last 600m (37.8) to win the 3YO 1400 metres on 13 May at Rotorua, and contests the $30,000 3YO 1600 metres event. Stakes' placed in the Wanganui Guineas (Listed, 1340m) on a Heavy10 track earlier in the season, he appears tough to beat if he executes a clean beginning. Fixed odds: $2.70 & $1.20.
