Te Akau NZ Ellerslie Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has four horses entered for the nine-race programme on Saturday Dec. 7 at Ellerslie.

As on Friday Dec. 6 the conditions were: overcast and Slow8, rail out 4.5 metres.

12:49pm R1 4 Prospero (6 g High Chaparral - Alfred's Jewel) - Matt Cameron; finished off solidly for fourth after being flushed wide rounding the home turn on Nov. 29 in the Benchmark 85 2200 metres on Dead5 at Otaki. Eight days later and back in grade to contest the Benchmark 75 2200 metres, his three wins have been recorded on slow and heavy footing and he should strike conditions to suit.

1:24pm R2 13 Jewels Gift (3 f Stravinsky - Jesmonds Gift) - Matt Cameron; travelled handy before finishing third on Nov. 2 in the Maiden 1300 metres on good ground at Awapuni. Prior to she led and fought hard for second to Telepathic (Mossman), narrowly beaten since at Ellerslie, when resuming on Oct. 7 over 1200 metres on good footing at Avondale. Drawn barrier two in the Maiden 1200 metres, she should handle a bit of cut in the track and brings the right form to prove competitive.

3:42pm R6 14 Enhance (3 f Saperavi - Pinstinct) - Matt Cameron; has put her rivals away with a very good turn of foot in each of two wins, from only two starts, both on slow ground. Freshened since the most recent, she resumes off 56-days in the Benchmark 75 1200 metres. Drawn barrier four in a solid line-up, her form thus far indicates a filly of considerable ability.

4:52pm R8 9 Flirty Gertey (3 f Thorn Park - Granma Gertey) - Matt Cameron; resumes from a 54-day break following a four-length win on Oct. 14 over 1350 metres on Slow8 footing at Paeroa, and she steps out from barrier five in the Benchmark 65 1400 metres. Her dam, Granma Gertey (Danzero), finished second on debut in the Blue Diamond Preview (Gr. 3, 1000m) at Caulfield, and returned to the same venue off a spell to again run second in the Quizette Stakes (Listed, 1200m) on slow footing. Although up in grade, she has shown to be a capable performer in her two starts to date.
