Te Akau NZ Riccarton Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has two horses entered during the ten-race premier programme on Saturday Nov. 9 at Riccarton.

As at 8:39am on Thursday Nov. 7 the conditions were: fine and Good3, rail true.

1:25pm R3 15 Dreamer (3 f More than Ready - Make Me Strong) - Matt Cameron; came from back in the field for fifth equal on Oct. 19 in the Ray Coupland Stakes (Listed, 1400m) run in unofficial race record time (1:21.13) at Ashburton. She fought hard for second here at her previous start on Sept. 21 in the Canterbury Belle Stakes (Listed, 1200m) and drops back in class for the Maiden 1400 metres. Drawn barrier five, she should receive all favours and prove very competitive.

3:56pm R7 6 Chambord (3 g Zabeel - Miss Montjeu) - Matt Cameron; staged a big run when coming through the middle of the field, from last, finishing second to stable-mate Costa Viva (Encosta De Lago) on Oct. 19 in the Ray Coupland Stakes (Listed, 1400m) at Ashburton. On debut prior, he coasted along in fourth before racing clear, untouched, to score by five lengths on Sept. 22 over 1200 metres at Gisborne. Stabled in the interim at Riccarton, he comes off 21-days to contest the 2000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) and his last start performance rates on par with the best by any rivals. A deft ride from the outside gate in a field of twelve can see him right in the mix.
