Te Akau NZ Riccarton Saturday Preview

Te Akau Racing has three horses entered on Saturday 10 August at Riccarton.

Riccarton:

Weather: overcast, track: Heavy10, rail: true. No rain forecast.

12:15 p.m. R3 10 Kith ‘n’ Kin (5 m Almanzor – Kindred) – Ashvin Goindasamy; she finished strongly from back on the inner for third in the Rating 75 1200 metres here on the poly track on 26 July, and contests the $35,000 Rating 75 1200 metres. She isn't the biggest but has a huge heart and has been a winner twice over 1200 metres on soft ground/ She does have the ability to prove competitive, but much will depend on if she can handle the conditions on the day. Fixed odds: $9.50 & $3.00.

1:21 p.m. R5 2 Fellini (5 g Belardo – Silke Top) – Ashvin Goindasamy; he received an economical trip and kept finding to finish close up among the minor placings in the Rating 75 1400 metres on 21 July at Oamaru, and contests the $35,000 Rating 75 1600 metres. He's such a consistent customer, was second the start prior after leading a competitive pace in the 3YO & 4YO 1600 metres on 4 July at Ashburton, and does rate a top three chance if he cane secure a decent trip from the outside gate (10). Fixed odds: $7.00 & $2.30.

2:36 p.m. R7 2 Freeze Frame (5 g Vadamos – Snow Petal) – Jim Chung (a2); how good was he last weekend!  Going down a nano-second asa he continued his excellent form when a minuscule margin runner up in the Group 3 Winter Cup over 1600m here last Saturday. The start prior he was equally close in the Te Awamutu Cup (Open Handicap, 1600m) on 6 July at Te Rapa. He has the benefit of weight relief to 57kg in the $45,000 Open Handicap 1800 metres as he backs up and would have to be a serious contender for top three honours. Fixed odds: $3.00 & $1.65.
