Te Akau NZ Riccarton Thursday Preview

Te Akau Racing has four horses entered on Thursday 29 August at Riccarton.

1:15 p.m. R2 7 Donna Chiara (3 f Belardo – Bellabaci) – Wiremu Pinn; she finished well without serious urging for third when trialling on 6 August at Te Rapa and, returning south, resumes in the $18,500 Maiden 1200 metres. She ended her previous campaign with a notable third placing, has drawn the ace for today's assignment, and rates a top three chance if she is appreciative of the poly track at her first attempt. Fixed odds: $1.80 & $1.10.

1:50 p.m. R3 4 Not Straight Laced (4 m Turn Me Loose – Clos De Tart) – Wiremu Pinn; she powered up to score easily in the Maiden 1200 metres here (poly track) on 7 August, and contests the $18,500 Entain/NZB Insurance Pearl Series Rating 65 Fillies & Mares 1200 metres (eligible $26,000 bonuses). A Te Akau Stud home bred, she brings the right form to this small field and positions as a realistic first three prospect.  Fixed odds: $2.90 & $1.30.

3:00 p.m. R5 3 Time Is King (4 g Darci Brahma – Tiffany’s Time) – Wiremu Pinn; he struck ground that was too heavy for his liking in the Rating 65 1600 metres on 16 August at Oamaru, and drops in grade here for the $18,500 Rating 60 1600 metres. He was a course/distance Maiden winner in June and is presented with a good opportunity to bounce back if he can secure a decent trip from the tricky barrier nine. Fixed odds: $5.00 & $1.85.

3:35 p.m. R6 7 Rue de Rivoli (4 m Tivaci – Boulevard) – Wiremu Pinn; she did well when finishing fourth off a wide run in the Rating 60 1400 metres here (poly track) on 7 August, and contests the $18,500 Rating 60 1400 metres. She brings a good course record into play here and look for her to be finishing strongly from the handy gate (2).  Fixed odds: $3.80 & $1.60.
