Te Akau New Zealand has three horses racing on Saturday 6 July: Te Rapa, and Awapuni.
Te Rapa:
Weather: showery, track: Heavy10, rail: out 4 metres. No rain forecast.
2.14 p.m. R5 4 Bojangles (5 g Roc de Cambes - Stever House) - Chelsea Burdan (a3); took awhile to get clear from tenth before closing strongly for fourth in the Rating 65 1600 metres on 20 June at Pukekohe, after producing similar efforts at his two prior starts for fourth and fifth respectively. A winner on slow and heavy footing, he finished fourth in the corresponding $22,500 Rating 65 2100 metres last year and comes in nicely with weight relief to 55.5kgs.
3.59 p.m. R8 13 Grand Ariana (3 f Snitzel - Enduja) - Chelsea Burdan (a3); made up a stack of ground from last when resuming on 13 June in the Rating 65 1200 metres on Heavy11 at Wanganui, and steps up in the $22,500 Rating 65 1400 metres. One start, one win, when coming from well back over 1200 metres as a two-year-old at Waipukurau, she meets a strong field but is aided by weight relief to 53.5kgs.
Awapuni:
Weather: overcast, track: Heavy11, rail: true. No rain forecast.
2.30 p.m. R5 7 Qian Gua (4 g Cape Blanco - Cool Diamonds) - Darryl Bradley; ran a good race for second to subsequent winner Look Out (Nom Du Jeu) on 13 June in theRating 72 High-weight 1600 metres on Heavy11 at Wanganui, and steps up in the $30,000 Rating 82 2100 metres. Placed up to 2000 metres with the ability to handle heavy going, he comes in on the minimum (54kgs) and rates an each way chance. Fixed odds: $6.50 & $2.20.
