Te Akau NZ Saturday Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has three horses racing on Saturday 18 January: Trentham and Gore.

Trentham:

Weather: fine, track: Dead5, rail: true. No rain forecast.

12.20 p.m. R1 7 Festivity  (3 f I Am Invincible - Mabsam) - Michael McNab; spaced her rivals when winning impressively at the trials on 16 December at Te Aroha, and did the same on debut in the Maiden 1100 metres on 30 December at Taupo. By the leading sire (wins) in Australia, she appears a worthy favourite in the $40,000 3YO 1200 metres. Fixed odds: $1.75 & $1.10.

3.52 p.m. R7 8 Avantage (4 m Fastnet Rock - Asavant) - Opie Bosson; returned to form with a big finish for second under 58.5kgs in the Hallmark Stud Stakes (Listed, 1200m) on Boxing Day at Ellerslie, and looked to have improved for the run during a recent exhibition gallop at Matamata. A Champion Two-Year-Old and million dollar earner, including victory in the Karaka Million (Restricted Listed, 1200m) and Sires' Produce Stakes (Gr. 1, 1400m), she carries 56.5kgs under weight-for-age conditions in the $250,000 JR & N Berkett Telegraph (Gr. 1, 1200m) and rates a strong contender with the right passage from barrier 13. Fixed odds: $3.90 & $1.55.

Gore:

Weather: fine, track: Dead4, rail: true. No rain forecast.

4.39 p.m. R8 6 Burgundy Rose  (3 f Burgundy - Paraiba) - Doni Ptrastiyou; extended her record to two wins and three seconds from five starts with a polished display in the 2YO & 3YO 1200 metres on Boxing Day at Wingatui, and steps up in the $50,000 Liquorland Gore Guineas (Listed, 1335m). She annihilated her rivals by six lengths in the Maiden 3YO 1100 metres in October at Taupo, with Burdan aboard, and appears set to offer plenty. Fixed odds: $4.20 & $1.75.
