Te Akau track work Tuesday November 5 at Riccarton
Trial grass (dead):
Chambord (Bullard) and Viana (Robinson) covered 1200 metres in 1:13.7 and the final 600m in 33.9, each well held. Eye-catching with a big finish for second to stable-mate Costa Viva (Encosta De Lago) in the Ray Coupland Stakes (Listed, 1400m) on Oct. 19 at Ashburton, Chambord (Zabeel) has been strongly supported in betting markets ahead of the 2000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) this Saturday, Nov. 9, at Riccarton. A last start winner of the Spring Classic (Listed, 2000m) on Oct. 26 at Riccarton, Viana is scheduled to race on the third day of the NZ Cup meeting, Nov. 16, in the Benchmark 85 1800 metres.
Under restraint, Costa Viva (Bullard) worked over 1000 metres in 1:02.8, last 600m in 34.5. Trainer Jason Bridgman reported that she is thriving ahead of the 1000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) on Nov. 16 at Riccarton.
In easy work, Dreamer (Bullard) went solo from the 800 metres in 52.3, last 600m in 37.2. She was just out for a stretch in preparation to race over 1400 metres this Saturday, Nov. 9, at Riccarton.
