Te Akau NZ Sunday Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has two horses entered during the seven-race programme on Sunday September 29 at Te Rapa - National Jumps Day.

As at 8:50am on Saturday Sept. 28 the conditions were: showery and Slow8, rail out 10 metres.

1:55pm R2 8 Sunset Pass (5 g Yamanin Vital - Janet's Chance) - Daniel Miller (a3); makes his hurdles debut in the Maiden 2400 metres, claiming three-kilos to 65kgs. Up in grade here last time out, after winning on Aug. 19 in the Maiden 1800 metres at Taupo, he fought solidly for sixth on Slow7 footing. He finished third at his only hurdles trial, in June, and has pleased Tommy Hazlett with both his schooling and condition leading into the assignment.

4:16pm R6 6 Goosebumps (9 g Istidaad - Raewyn's Polly) - Daniel Miller (a3); jumped very well in front and scored in no uncertain terms on Sept. 2 in the Maiden Steeplechase over 4000 metres on Slow9 footing at Paeroa, with this rider aboard. Due to lack of entries for the 0-1 Steeplechase, he finds himself in the Open event over 4900 metres. Carrying 62.5kgs, he strips in great nick and looks to wrap the season on a good note.
