Te Akau NZ Sunday Preview
21 February, 2016
Te Akau New Zealand has three horses racing at two venues on Sunday 21 February.
Gisborne:
As on Saturday 20 February the conditions were: fine and Dead5, rail true. There is no rain forecast.
1.46 p.m. R2 3 Amperage (3 g Zabeel - Miss Zapper) - Alysha Collett; recorded a strong trial win in front over 1200 metres on February 9 at Matamata, and appears in terrific order to resume in the Maiden 1600 metres. Although drawn wide, he has the gate speed to take up a prominent position, threatened to break through in his first campaign, and with the likely favourite Clifford he looks a good each way chance.
2.21 p.m. R3 11 Carmenize (3 f Any Suggestion - Zevita) - Cameron Lammas; resumes in the Maiden 1200 metres, following a solid hit out in a recent trial at Matamata. She displayed competitive attributes in three starts to date, should be suited by a touch of give in the ground, and has the form to produce a bold showing.
Winton:
As on Saturday 20 February the conditions were: fine and Good3, rail true. An occasional shower is forecast.
3.47 p.m. R8 7 Princess Davone (3 f Iffraaj - Nikey Davone) - Michael McNab; changed ground late before rushing into third on February 6 in the $50,000 Dunedin Guineas (Listed, 1400m) at Wingatui, and should receive an economical trip from barrier five in the $50,000 Southland Guineas (Listed, 1600m). She has trained on very well, up to a mile is ideal, and having placed three times at stakes' level a victory would be deserved.
