Te Akau NZ Taranaki Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered for the eight-race programme on Thursday June 6 at New Plymouth.

As at 8:42am on Wednesday June 5 the conditions were: overcast and Heavy10, rail out 7 metres.

2:30pm R5 6 Adalia (4 m Lucky Unicorn - Ajfan) - Matt Cameron; ended her previous campaign with an easy win here when beating Pooka's Sister on heavy footing over 1800 metres. She resumes from a 267-day break, with two trials under her belt, in the Benchmark 75 1600 metres. From only three starts, the winner of two strikes a small field and while improvement will come from the fresh-up run her form suggests she is a strong chance.

3:05pm R6 5 Clos De Tart (3 f Darci Brahma - Rapid Kay) - Matt Cameron; ran through the line nicely for sixth on May 11 against a strong field of three-year-olds over 1400 metres on Heavy10 footing at Rotorua. Prior to, she had swept wide to win easily when making her debut on April 24 in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres on Heavy10 at Te Aroha. Ideally drawn, off the rail, in a field of eight, her dam was unbeaten in two starts on this course - both on slow ground - and with blinkers on for the first time she rates a top prospect in the Benchmark 65 1400 metres.

4:10pm R8 2 Fast Fiction (3 g Fastnet Rock - Paperback) - Matt Cameron; makes his debut in the Maiden 3YO 1100 metres. With two recent trial performances for first on heavy footing and second on slow ground, he has the gate speed to put himself in the picture from the outset and while difficult to assess chances when half the field are debutantes he has the both the strength and conditioning to produce a bold performance.
