Te Akau NZ Tauranga Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has two horses entered for the nine-race programme on Friday Dec. 13 at Tauranga.

As on Thursday Dec. 12 the conditions were: fine and Dead5, rail out 4 metres.

1:45pm R3 14 Tiara (3 f O'Reilly - Royal Lady) - Matt Cameron; did her best work through the line from back in the field off a wide gate on Nov. 21 in the Maiden 3YO 1400 metres at Matamata. Drawn barrier five over the same distance in a race for fillies and mares, she is destined to get over ground as the pedigree suggests but has remained quite sharp in training. Her grand-dam Royal Tiara (Blanco) won the 1995 Auckland Cup (Gr. 1, 3200m) and her dam, Royal Lady (Stravinsky), recorded her five wins around 2000 metres.

3:30pm R6 7 Riverenza (4 m King's Chapel - Sea Rhythm) - Matt Cameron; resumes from a break of 246-days in the Benchmark 65 1600 metres, having had the benefit of two trials. A winner over 1800 metres on good footing in January at Riccarton, an encouraging finish from barrier three will signal her readiness to step over more ground.
