Te Akau NZ Tauranga Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered for the nine-race programme on Monday May 20 at Tauranga.

As at 10:12am on Sunday May 19 the conditions were: overcast and Heavy10, rail out 6 metres.

12:00pm R2 6 Kayleen (3 f Towkay - Indomitable) - Michael Dee (a3); was under a ride from seventh approaching the home turn, responding to claim fourth off a 50-day let up on April 26 in the Maiden 1000 metres on Slow7 at Blenheim. Very consistent in seven starts to date, with her best form on rain-affected footing, she drops in weight to carry 53.5kgs and appreciative of track conditions can be right in calculations.

2:58pm R7 4 Tossed Again (4 m Fast ‘N' Famous - Look at Moiye) - Michael Dee (a3); was required to run along throughout when resuming from a spell in the Benchmark 85 1000 metres at the same meeting as her stable-mate above, finishing fourth. It was a solid performance out of her grade and dropping back in the Benchmark 65 1200 metres on heavy ground is ideal. Her dam, Look at Moiye (O'Reilly), impressed winning over 1200 metres on slow and heavy footing. Already a winner in the north, on debut at Te Rapa, she has the talent to force the issue.

4:08pm R9 2 Urban Angel (4 m Savabeel - Tutuland) - Michael Dee (a3); found a handy spot and presented on straightening she came clear in a duel to finish second resuming from a spell on May 1 in the Benchmark 65 1400 metres on Slow7 footing at Pukekohe. Up to a mile, she is a mare that gives one-hundred and ten percent and other than a previous start on the course has strong indicators for another bold showing.
