NZ Te Aroha Preview

Two Te Akau horses will line up at Te Aroha on Wednesday, one on debut.

Te Akau New Zealand has two horses entered for the eight-race programme on Wednesday April 24 at Te Aroha.

As at 8:22am on Monday April 22 the conditions were: overcast and Heavy10, rail out 6 metres - 31mls rain last 48 hours.

1:40pm R3 10 Clos De Tart (3 f Darci Brahma - Rapid Kay) - Matt Cameron; camped third and quickened in hand to win her most recent trial on April 11 over 950 metres on Dead4 at Cambridge. She makes her debut from a wide barrier in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres. Her dam, Rapid Kay, trained by Te Akau, was a debut winner in April who impressed on slow ground in a career of five victories from 1300m to 1600m. A family that has shown to act in a fresh state, her half-sister, Skittle (Pins), has also impressed winning on slow footing amongst five wins to date.

4:00pm R7 11 Secret Whisper (4 g Align - Danewhisper) - Matt Cameron; came from off the pace with a big finish for third on April 8 in the Benchmark 75 1600 metres at New Plymouth, having resumed on March 25 with a closing run for fourth in the Benchmark 75 1400 metres at Matamata. A winner at the corresponding meeting last year, over 1400 metres on Dead4, drawing barrier ten should prove advantageous in the Benchmark 75 1600 metres. Although untried on heavy footing, his slow track form provides encouragement for him to prove competitive.
