Te Akau NZ Te Aroha Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has five horses entered for the eight-race programme on Monday Dec. 2 at Te Aroha.

As on Friday Nov. 29 the conditions were: fine and Dead4, rail out 5 metres.

2:20pm R3 13 Jewels Gift (3 f Stravinsky - Jesmonds Gift) - Matt Cameron; travelled handy before finishing third on Nov. 2 in the Maiden 1300 metres on good ground at Awapuni. Prior to she led and fought hard for second to Telepathic (Mossman), narrowly beaten since at Ellerslie, when resuming on Oct. 7 over 1200 metres on good footing at Avondale. Drawn the ace, over 1200 metres, she won her first trial by four lengths on this course and brings the right form to prove competitive.

3:30pm R5 10 Show No Emotion (4 m Pins - Lynisky) - Matt Cameron; put aside after one start as a three-year-old, she resumes from a 213-day break in the Maiden 1400 metres. With the benefit of a trial under her belt, she should be able to secure an economical trip from barrier one, has blinkers added to her gear, and like her stable-mate above has also trialled well on this course.

4:05pm R6 6 Aspen (3 c Alamosa - Kirin Belle) - Matt Cameron; worked home nicely from last behind subsequent winner Ruready (Keeninsky) trialling at Cambridge, and resumes from a 78-day break. From outside the leader, on debut over 1400 metres at Ruakaka, he put a good field away in impressive fashion and a decision was made following the victory to set the horse on a Derby path. Drawn wide in the Benchmark 65 1400 metres, he will be ridden quietly and look for him to get home with purpose - one of two in the race for Te Akau.

4:05pm R6 13 Stylee (4 m Pins - Arletty) - Kelly Myers; has had two trials in preparation to resume from a 277-day break. Showing a good turn of foot to win her second start, over 1400 metres on good footing at New Plymouth, she spelled after three races in her first campaign and should receive a nice trip from barrier six.

5:15pm R8 1 Peerage (4 g O'Reilly - Chimeara) - Matt Cameron; second after jogging along on a slow tempo when debuting on Nov. 10 in the Maiden 1400 metres on good ground at Hastings, he now steps up to mile. His dam, Chimeara (Danehill), was impressive winning over 1200m and 1600 metres, while at stud she has left million dollar earner De Beers (Quest for Fame). His grand-dam, Tristalove (Sir Tristram) was Head of the 1992-93 2YO Free Handicaps, and in turn her dam was Diamond Lover (Sticks and Stones).
