Te Akau NZ Te Rapa Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered during the ten-race programme on Labour Day, Monday Oct. 28, at Te Rapa.
As at 8:09am on Saturday Oct. 26 the conditions were: fine and Good3, rail true.
12:35pm R2 9 King's Rock (3 c Fastnet Rock - Nureyev's Girl) - Matt Cameron; was scratched from the Wellington Guineas (Gr. 2, 1500m) on Saturday due to Heavy11 track conditions at Trentham. He has freshened nicely since finishing close up fifth on Sept. 29 in the Bonecrusher Stakes (Gr. 3, 1400m) on Slow9 footing at Elllerslie. On debut prior, he sustained a big finish to win here over 1400 metres in 1:25.55 on footing upgraded to Slow7. Drawn wide, as he was for his debut assignment, in the Benchmark 65 1600 metres, trainer Jason Bridgman will make a final decision regarding a start based on how the horses has fared on his three-day turnaround trip to Otaki.
3:30pm R7 9 Spellbinder (3 f O'Reilly - Scenic Sprint) - Matt Cameron; has continued to do well, coming off a 30-day break since haring away by six and a half lengths in the Soliloquy Stakes (Listed, 1400m) on Slow9 footing at Ellerslie. Prior to, she had pace to lead, travelled best near the home turn and lengthened clear for an impressive debut win on Sept. 9 in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres on good ground at Taupo. Drawn perfectly in barrier four for the James & Annie Sarten Memorial (Gr. 3, 1400m), she has the class to match any of her rivals.
5:15pm R10 7 Sovereign Rose (6 m Pins - Pavan) - Matt Cameron; had more to offer when tracking a wall of horses in the straight, from last, when resuming from a 147-day break on Oct. 9 over 1400 metres at Taupo. She finished 3.7 lengths from subsequent winner Sultry Assassin in a race where the performances of all fourteen runners had merit. She meets a very even field in the Benchmark 75 1600 metres and although preparing for 2000 metres having drawn barrier two is a great assist.
