Te Akau New Zealand has 14 horses racing on Saturday 24 October: Te Rapa, Riccarton, and Moonee Valley (Melbourne).

Weather: overcast, track: Dead5, rail: true. Occasional showers forecast.





12.38 p.m. R1 2 Palamos  (2 c Extreme Choice - Unrevealed) - Troy Harris; won without being pressured when trialling on 15 October at Avondale, and debuts from barrier four in the $22,500 2YO 1000 metres. From the first crop of dual Group 1 winning sprinter Extreme Choice (Not A Single Doubt), out of Unrevealed (Forest Wildcat), winner of four races to 1400 metres in Japan.  Fixed odds: $2.50 & $1.30.





2.57 p.m. R5 12 Kahma Lass (3 f Darci Brahma - Distinctive Lass) - Troy Harris; won stylishly when trialling in September at Te Teko, produced a very good debut second in the Maiden 3YO 1100 metres on 13 September at Taupo, and followed with a clinical victory in the Maiden 1200 metres on 7 October at Avondale. Jumping in class for the $70,000 Waikato Stud Soliloquy Stakes (Gr. 3, 1400m), she has the right attributes to prove competitive from barrier two. Fixed odds: $11.00 & $3.40. 





3.34 p.m. R6 4 Festivity  (4 m I Am Invincible - Mabsam) - Danielle Johnson; made it three from three when resuming with a nose margin victory over Pinultimate (below) in the Rating 74 1200 metres on 3 October at Hastings, and remains in the same grade for the $27,500 Rating 74 1200 metres. She has the record to prove tough again from barrier three. Fixed odds: $2.40 & $1.35.





3.34 p.m. R6 5 Pinultimate  (5 m Pins - Lost In Dubai) - Troy Harris; resumed off a long layoff with a terrific run for second to Festivity (above) in the Rating 74 1200 metres on 3 October at Hastings. A four-length winner on debut and three from six in total, she appears a major threat again in the $27,500 Rating 74 1200 metres. Fixed odds: $3.70 & $1.70.





3.34 p.m. R6 11 Miss Scandinavia (6 m Smart Missile - Miss Helsinki) - Joe Kamaruddin (a4); closed the gap when trialling here in September and resumes in the $27,500 Rating 74 1200 metres. In foal, which often improves mares, she has weight relief to 51kgs, consistent, and should be finding the line before stepping in distance. Fixed odds: $31.00 & $6.50. 





4.08 p.m. R7 1 Need I Say More  (3 g No Nay Never - Bo Bardi) - Johnathan Parkes; was unbeaten in three starts, including the Waikato Stud Slipper (Gr. 3, 1200m) and Northland Breeders Stakes (Gr. 3, 1200m) in September at Te Rapa, when running the fastest last 600m (34.3) on the day, before finishing fourth off a wide run in the Hawkes Bay Guineas (Gr. 2, 1400m) on 3 October at Hastings. Contesting the $100,000 James & Annie Sarten Memorial (Gr. 2, 1400m), he should have lost no detractors from his previous effort and rates a top three chance from barrier two. Fixed odds: $4.00 & $1.50.














Riccarton:





Weather: fine, track: Dead5, rail: out 8 metres to 1000 metres, 11m to winning post.





12.20 p.m. R1 3 Lethal  (4 g Savabeel - Katie Lee) - Chelsea Burdan (a2); finished fourth here in the $10,000 Maiden 1400 metres on 3 October, with Burdan aboard, and contests the corresponding event. His recent efforts have been solid and he rates a top four chance again. Fixed odds: $6.50 & $2.40.





2.03 p.m. R4 2 Avonallo  (2 c Belardo - Real Angel) - Rohan Mudhoo (a2); finished second to race rival Follow Your Dreams (Contributer) when debuting here in the $22,500 2YO 800 metres and contests the corresponding event. Although drawn eight of 10, he has weight relief to 54kgs and rates a winning chance with the right trip. Fixed odds: $4.20 & $1.40.





3.18 p.m. R6 5 Mazzuro  (6 g Rip Van Winkle - Mini Pearl) - Samantha Wynne; was given time (42 days) since a notable fresh-up performance for third in the Rating 94 1600 metres here on 12 September and contests the $27,500 Rating 74 1800 metres. He took charge winning over 2100 metres last season at Te Rapa, destined to step in trip again, and should go well from barrier seven. Fixed odds: $5.50 & $2.15.





3.18 p.m. R6 7 Markus Aurelius (4 g Ghibellines - Evancho) - Chelsea Burdan (a2); stretched out running home in a slick 32.9 (final 600m) when winning the Rating 65 1400 metres here on 3 October, with Burdan aboard, and steps up in the $27,500 Rating 74 1800 metres. From a mare that won four times to 2100 metres, he has weight relief to 55.5kgs and rates a top three chance from barrier three. Fixed odds: $6.00 & $2.25.





3.52 p.m. R7 7 Fashion Shoot  (3 f Savabeel - High Fashion) - Chelsea Burdan (a2); won easily in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres on 17 September at Te Rapa, and notable finishing fifth to well-performed Not An Option (Not A Single Doubt) in a smart field for the 3YO 1400 metres on 10 October at Matamata. She has both the pedigree and ability to rate a top four chance in the $80,000 War Decree Stakes (Gr. 3, 1600m). Fixed odds: $3.50 & $1.40.





4.25 p.m. R8 4 Age of Fire  (6 g Fastnet Rock - Dragon's Tail) - Chelsea Burdan (a2); has two sprint races over 1200 metres here under his belt and steps up in the $32,500 Open 1400 metres. Group 1 winner of the Levin Classic (Gr. 1, 1600m), after finishing second to stable-mate Embellish (Savabeel) here in the 2000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m), he has weight relief to 52.5kgs and capable of an improved showing. Fixed odds: $8.00 & $2.60.





4.25 p.m. R8 9 Remington  (6 g Darci Brahma - Kudamm) - Rohan Mudhoo (a2); fought hard for third under 60kgs in the Rating 74 1600 metres on 9 October at Timaru, and drops in weight to carry 52kgs in the $32,500 Open 1400 metres. A tough assignment, but he is racing solidly. Fixed odds: $16.00 & $4.50.

6.15 p.m. (NZ time) R7 11 Probabeel (4 m Savabeel - Far Fetched) - Kerrin McEvoy; scored emphatically under a hand ride in the Bill Ritchie Handicap (Gr. 3, 1400m), before a tremendous victory in the $1m Epsom Handicap (Gr. 1, 1600m) on 3 October, both at Randwick. A dual Group 1 winner this year in Australia, she contests the 100thrunning of the $5m Cox Plate (Gr. 1, 2040m). A brilliant mare, she carries the hopes of a nation and ideally drawn in barrier two.
