Te Akau NZ Waikato Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has four horses entered for the ten-race programme on Wednesday July 3 at Te Rapa.

As at 10:42am on Saturday June 29 the conditions were: fine and Heavy10, rail out 12 metres.

12:45pm R4 5 King Savinsky (2 g Savabeel - Lynisky) - Matt Cameron; came from back in running with a strong finish for second when trialled on June 11 over 800 metres on Heavy11 footing at Cambridge, and now makes his race day debut in the Maiden 2YO 1200 metres. He displayed professionalism in the trial, has worked well since and stands as a strong type of juvenile. His dam, Lynisky (Stravinsky), showed consistency in ten starts to win at two over 1200 metres on dead ground and score again at three over 1400 metres on similar footing. From barrier ten, it is likely he will settle off the pace and look to find the line.

3:05pm R8 5 Pride and Passion (4 m Encosta De Lago - Calaway Gal) - Matt Cameron; made a good fist of resuming from a long layoff when racing on the pace and finishing close up in fifth on June 5 in the Maiden 1200 metres on Heavy11 footing at Matamata. In the Maiden Fillies and Mares 1200 metres, where drawing wide is expected to prove beneficial late in the day, she brings improvement from her fresh-up up performance and able to relax in running can see her prove competitive.

3:40pm R9 4 My Fiancée (3 f Snitzel - Meet My Sis) - Opie Bosson; continued her solid recent form with a tenacious performance for third on June 5 in the Maiden 1200 metres on Heavy11 footing at Matamata. She now steps up in distance to 1400 metres in a race for fillies and mares, from barrier twelve, which is expected to suit. Having trained on well, she appears a strong chance to break through - one of two in the race for Te Akau.

3:40pm R9 5 Orinto (3 f Iffraaj - The Perfurme Garden) - Matt Cameron; resumes from a let-up of 64 days. Her four runs to date have all had plenty of merit, with good form around her and she has come back stronger. She will wear a barrier blanket to assist at the start and has genuine qualities to put her in the mix with the right sort of run from barrier five.
