Te Akau NZ Waikato Preview
3 October, 2013
Te Akau New Zealand has four horses entered during the eleven-race programme on Friday October 4 at Te Rapa.
As at 8:05am on Thursday Oct. 3 the conditions were: fine and Dead6, rail out 6 metres.
2:40pm R6 6 Clos De Tart (4 m Darci Brahma - Rapid Kay) - Matt Cameron; ridden up to circle inside the 500 metres, she sustained a big finish for second on Sept. 9 in the Benchmark 65 1300 metres on Dead4 footing at Taupo. She closed strongly for third when resuming on the same course prior, and stepping to 1400 metres from barrier seven should enable another very competitive performance.
3:15pm R7 6 Exabelle (5 m Exceed and Excel - Avabelle) - Michael Dee (a3); has taken benefit from her fresh-up run over 1200 metres, off a 136-day spell, at Gisborne, and steps up in the Benchmark 65 1400 metres. A course and distance winner second-up in her first campaign, she should receive a nice trip from barrier six and weight relief sees her carry only 52.5kgs.
4:26pm R9 3 Secret Whisper (4 g Align - Danewhisper) - Michael Dee (a3); went very close when third here on Sept. 11 in the Benchmark 75 1600 metres, with this rider aboard, on footing upgraded to Slow7. Drawn barrier three in the corresponding event, he brings the right form to play a major part again.
5:35pm R11 3 Orinto (4 m Iffraaj - The Perfume Garden) - Michael Dee (a3); made up a massive slice of ground when beaten a nose here on Sept. 11 in the Benchmark 65 1400 metres. Up to a mile from barrier four, she claims weight relief to 55kgs and appears nicely placed in this field to force the issue.
