Te Akau NZ Weekend Preview
29 May, 2015
Te Akau New Zealand has horses racing at two venues on Saturday May 30: one on the nine race programme at Ellerslie, and one on the ten race programme at Wanganui.
Ellerslie:
As on Friday May 29 the conditions were: fine and Heavy11, rail true.
1.15 p.m. R4 6 Tavis Star (3 f Tavistock - Megapins) - Michael Coleman; staged a huge run from back in the field on May 8 in the Rating 65 1600 metres on Heavy10 at Avondale, nine days after producing a big effort to win the Maiden 3YO 1600 metres on Slow9 footing at Te Aroha. In a field of seven, some already with form on this track, she contests the 3YO 1600 metres. Her grand-dam, Instant Divorce (Fiesta Star), won the corresponding race in 1996, and able to cop the very testing ground should render her a major threat.
Wanganui:
As on Friday May 29 the conditions were: fine and Slow8, rail true.
1.00 p.m. R5 9 Stella Di Paco (2 f Paco Boy - Savabeel Star) - Johnathon Parkes; only yielded at the 200m after leading on May 8 in the 2YO Fillies 1200 metres on Slow9 at Avondale, having found the Heav10 beyond her in the Maiden 2YO 1200 metres at Rotorua. Training on appreciably with two races under her belt, she contests the Castletown Stakes (Listed, 1200m). Currently the outsider at $51 & $12 in the fixed odds market, she should deliver a better performance than the quote.
