Te Akau NZ Weekend Preview
Te Akau New Zealand has two horses racing at two venues on Saturday 23 July.

Ruakaka:

As on Friday 22 July the conditions were: cloudy and Dead5, rail out 4 metres. 10mls rain forecast overnight.

4.09 p.m. R8 8 Astrid (4 m Pins - Astralita) - Samantha Spratt; worked home belatedly from last with Te Akau apprentice Jasmine Fawcett (a4) aboard when resuming here in the $22,500 Rating 75 1200 metres, run and won in slick time by stable-mate Shillelagh (Savabeel), and followed up with a very good third, from a rearward position, in the $22,500 Rating 75 1400 metres at Hastings. Ideally drawn in barrier two for the corresponding event, she has trained on in the right manner to rate an each way chance in this field.

New Plymouth:

As on Friday 22 July the conditions were: cloudy and Heavy10, rail out 4.5 metres. 35mls rain forecast overnight and race day.

2.42 p.m. R5 4 Chadsdale (4 g Castledale - Geeiliani) - Darryl Bradley; was very brave off a wide run when second to rival Darci Mac (Darci Brahma) in the same race as Astrid, above, at Hastings, with Bradley aboard.  Prior to that, he had resumed with a top run for third in the $22,500 Rating 75 1200 metres at Te Rapa. In good order and placed in both starts on heavy going, his fighting qualities should see him competitive again in the $25,000 Rating 75 1400 metres.
