Te Akau Oamaru Preview
Te Akau New Zealand has five horses entered on the nine race programme at Oamaru on Thursday 23 June.
As at Wednesday 21 June the conditions were: cloudy and Dead6 with the rail out 3 metres from the 1200m to 300m with the cutaway in the straight. 3ml of rain is forecast on race day.

11.58am R2 2 Hushed (5g Don Eduardo - Danewhisper) - Matthew Cameron: has been very impressive winning his past two starts by nine lengths and three and a half lengths respectively. He steps up to the Rating 80 grade and only carries a kilo less and brings the best form to the race so expect him to be fighting the finish out.

12.33pm R3 3 Flirty Gertey (5m Thorn Park - Granma Gertey) - Matthew Cameron: produced another game performance for second in a Rating 90 1200m here last start. She drops back to Rating 80 grade and deserves to carry the 60.5kgs as the highest rated horse in the field. While the wide draw presents some concern, expect her to be competitive in this field.

1:43pm R5 3 Love Actually (3f Swiss Ace - Just Platonic)  - Matthew Cameron: resumed well when finishing second in the 3YO 1200m event last start at Riccarton. She faces the older horses in the Rating 65 grade as well as the top two horses in the race book both being three-year-olds too. She is a good filly but will require a touch of luck from the barrier.

2:53pm R7 8 I See Fire (3f Encosta De Lago - Chasing Mammon) - Matthew Cameron: unable to make ground at Otaki on the Slow9 surface, she has mixed her form in the north with flashes of promise. However here she meets a maiden field without any exposed form and if she brings her best northern form to the table, they will certainly know she is there.

4:05pm R9 5 Our Drahma Queen (4m Darci Brahma - Queen Cha Cha) - Matthew Cameron: needed the run when finishing fourth at Riccarton off a forty day break after Blenheim. Thirteen days between runs and an expected Dead6 surface suits her well. A mare who won fourth up last preparation, she is primed to win despite a slight concern with barrier eight draw in ten horse field.
