Te Akau on Exhibition

Stakes' placed winner of four races, Balance Of Power (4 g Almanzor – Respin, by Power) had an exhibition gallop between races on Saturday.

Trained by Mark Walker & Sam Bergerson, Balance Of Power made it three wins from his last four starts when taking out the Rating 75 2000 metres on 8 March at Taranaki, and is now pencilled in for the $35,000 Rating 75 2100 metres on Sunday 13 April at Te Rapa.

Ridden by Courtney Barnes, who rode five winners the day beforehand at Wingatui, Balance Of Power worked with Group 2 Rich Hill Mile winner Habana, trained by Lance Noble, and ridden by Warren Kennedy.

The pair produced very good work, travelling on terms throughout over 1200 metres in 1:12.4, 1000m in 57.6, 800m in 45.1, and last 600m in 34.7.

Owned by J Anderson, DJ Bloodstock Partnership, M Durling, GN & CM Bloodstock Ltd, J & Mrs P Hepburn, C Kwok, R Lau, T Simpson, Te Akau Stud & Westonlea Bloodstock, he was bought by David Ellis CNZM for $300,000, at the 2022 Karaka Book 1 Sale, from the draft of Cambridge Stud.

A lovely type of horse, correct and a good mover, with plenty of substance, Balance Of Power is by one of the best credentialed stallions shuttled to New Zealand in the last decade. Almanzor (Wotton Bassett) was European Champion Three-Year-Old and claimed the same titles in Ireland and France. He now stands permanently at Cambridge Stud.
