Te Akau On Exhibition

In Haste (Snitzel) and Queen’s Evidence (King’s Legacy) had an exhibition gallop between races on 10 October at Taupo, along with Balance Of Power (Almanzor).

Both three-year-old fillies are preparing for the $175,000 Group 2 Windsor Park Stud Soliloquy Stakes 1400m on Saturday 18 October at Ellerslie.

Ridden by Warren Kennedy, Queen’s Evidence went on the inside of In Haste, with Opie Bosson aboard, the pair covering 1000 metres in 1:00.8, 800m in 48.2, and last 600m in 35.8, on Soft6 footing.

As a two-year-old, last season, Queen’s Evidence (3 f King’s Legacy – Enjay, by High Chaparral) won comfortably on debut before finishing fourth in the Listed Welcome Stakes (1000m) and second in the Listed Champagne Stakes (1200m). She dashed through for third following an economical trip when resuming in the Group 3 Gold Trail Stakes (1200m), and fought well after a tough trip in the Group 3 Sunline Vase (1400m).

Owned by the Te Akau Lineage Racing Partnership (Mgr: Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM), Queen’s Evidence was purchased for $220,000 by David Ellis MNZM, from the draft of Cambridge Stud, at the 2024 Karaka Book 1 Sale.

Winning two of her four starts, including an impressive performance fresh-up this season at Taupo, In Haste (3 f Snitzel – Prompt, Exceed And Excel) was claimed on the line to finish second in the Group 3 Gold Trail Stakes (1200m).

In Haste was bred by S F Bloodstock L L C and is shared by it in ownership by Newgate Operations Pty Ltd.

Balance Of Power (Almanzor), ridden by Opie Bosson, also had an exhibition gallop over 1000 metres in 1:00.3, 800m in 47.8, and last 600m in 35.4.

Looking in great order and galloping accordingly, Balance Of Power is preparing for the $55,000 Rating 75 1600 metres on Saturday 18 October at Ellerslie.

Stakes' placed early in his career, Balance Of Power (5 g Almanzor – Respin, by Power) ended his previous campaign in great form, winning three of his last five starts to 2000 metres, and ran on well after being caught back and wide when resuming in the Rating 75 1600 metres on 6 September at Ellerslie.

Owned by J O Anderson, DJ Bloodstock Partnership, M K Durling, GN & CM Bloodstock Ltd, J F & Mrs P L Hepburn, C W Kwok, R Lau, T N Simpson, Te Akau Stud & Westonlea Bloodstock, he was bought by David Ellis CNZM for $300,000, at the 2022 Karaka Book 1 Sale, from the draft of Cambridge Stud.
