Te Akau Otaki Friday Preview

Te Akau Racing has two horses entered on Friday 9 January at Otaki.

Otaki:

Weather: fine, track: Soft5, rail: true. No rain forecast.

12:27 p.m. R1 8 Man Of Style (3 g Reliable Man – Style Queen) – Wiremu Pinn; he chased a competitive pace in fourth position on the outer, went clear in the straight, and sustained a good effort for a close-up fifth in a trial on 9 December at Pukekohe. Debuting in the $18,500 Maiden 1600 metres, he displayed precocity when trialling as a two-year-old, and is from the family of Te Akau bought and trained, record-holding Group 1 NZ 2000 Guineas' winner Xtravagant (Pentire). He appears capable of a good first-up showing but requires luck from his wide draw (16). Fixed odds: $9.50 & $3.00.

1:36 p.m. R3 12 Zambrosia (3 f Zoustar – Positive Problems) – Corentin Berge; she began well to trail handily on the inner, travelled well rounding the home turn, and finished off nicely near the rail for fifth in a trial on 9 December at Pukekohe. Debuting in the $18,500 Maiden 1200 metres, she looked good winning her first trial as two-year-old, and this is the opportunity for her to kick-start her racing career, only concern however being her sticky gate (9). Fixed odds: $9.00 & $2.80.
