Te Akau NZ Otaki Preview
2 April, 2014
Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered for the eight-race programme on Thursday April 3 at Otaki.
As on Wednesday April 2 the conditions were: fine and Dead5, rail out 4 metres.
12:35pm R1 9 Got The Snitz (2 f Snitzel - Modave) - Rosie Myers; makes her debut from barrier six in the Maiden 2YO 800 metres. In her only trial, over 800 metres on March 11 at Rotorua, she displayed a good turn of foot when coming from off the pace in fifth to win nicely. Her unraced dam, Modave (Montjeu), is a sister to Avondale Cup (Gr. 1, 2200m) winner Sharvasti, from the top race mare and producer Vedodara (Kreisler). There is no shortage of talent in the family and a start is eagerly awaited.
2:55pm R5 1 Maestro (3 g Encosta De Lago - Miss Scarlatti) - Hayden Tinsley; worked up to second in a small field and held his position in the straight on debut in the Maiden 1400 metres on March 12 at Matamata. Perfectly drawn in barrier two for the Maiden 3YO 1400 metres, he has the benefit of his first up race and appears nicely placed to force the issue in this field.
4:40pm R8 7 Osmunda (3 f O'Reilly - Wyndam Special) - Kelly Myers; came from eighth, in a strung out field, to stage a big effort for second when resuming from a 70-day break in the Benchmark 65 1400 metres on March 12 at Matamata. Drawn the outside barrier of twelve, and stepping to a mile, she will be allowed to find her feet through the early stages but has the necessary goods to get amongst it at the business end.
