Te Akau Otaki Preview
11 May, 2016
Te Akau New Zealand has five horses entered for the eleven race programme on Thursday 12 May at Otaki.
As on Wednesday 11 May the conditions were: overcast and Dead4, rail true. 35mls rain forecast.
11.35 p.m. R3 7 Its Our Showtime (3 f Showcasing - Be Inspired) - Matt Cameron; was unable to make up the leeway when resuming in the Maiden 1200 metres at Avondale. She has displayed galloping ability and expected to produce an improved performance in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres.
11.35 p.m. R3 16 Christine Louise (3 f O'Reilly - Happily Ever After) - Cameron Lammas; led before finishing second in a recent trial over 1020 metres at Te Teko, and ready to resume in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres. She has acted with some cut in the ground at trials and hoped to appreciate the footing on offer.
12.00 p.m. R4 2 Rocksun (3 g Fastnet Rock - Beyond the Sunset) - Matt Cameron; worked off a wide gate before finishing sixth in the Maiden 1600 metres at Avondale, and drops back in distance to 1400 metres. From a better draw (8) he should produce an improved performance in this field, providing he cops the ground.
12.35 p.m. R5 9 Spritz (3 f Thorn Park - Spray) - Cameron Lammas; rounded off solidly for fourth when resuming in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres at Awapuni, with this rider aboard, and should appreciate stepping to 1400 metres. She is stronger this time in, which should be reflected in her performance.
1.45 p.m. R7 6 Esprit De Corps (3 g Bel Esprit - Vercors) - Matt Cameron; got back after being hampered and closed the margin pretty well in the Maiden 1400 metres at Avondale, and steps up in the Maiden 1600 metres. Fitter for two starts since resuming, he appears ideally placed to prove competitive providing he appreciates the likelihood of slow footing.
