Te Akau Otaki Preview
21 January, 2019
Te Akau New Zealand has two horses racing on Monday 21 January at Otaki.
As on Sunday 20 January the conditions were: fine and Dead4, rail true. No rain forecast.
1.38 p.m. R3 2 Publicist (3 c Redoute's Choice - Valadon) - Johnathan Parkes; recorded a copybook win over a mile in October at Ashburton, and gelded and freshened since contesting the Al Basti 2000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) in November at Riccarton. Holding a NZ Derby (Gr. 1, 2400m) nomination, he was good through the line off a patient ride when trialling on 8 January at Cambridge. Resuming in the $10,000 Rating 65 1400 metres, he looks a top three chance against two last start winners that also warrant respect.
3.58 p.m. R7 5 Gris Dame (4 m Reliable Man - Double Babu) - Rosie Myers; stepped up with a fourth in the Rating 65 2000 metres on 29 December at Matamata, and drops back in distance for the $10,000 Rating 65 1600 metres. Looking to recapture the form that saw her stakes placed in the Eight Carat Classic (Gr. 2, 1600m) last season, she receives an ideal opportunity from barrier one.
