Te Akau Owner of the Month
3 September, 2015

Time to throw the spotlight on another very special member of our owner family - Nita Herbst of Hamilton:
Nita was born in Christchurch. I played tennis, squash, netball, water skiing, snow skiing, run marathons and triathlons.
My holiday memories were fishing, swimming in the ocean and diving with a spear gun, rabbit shooting and deer shooting and riding motorbikes really fast.
I feel a special affinity with Christchurch because I was born there but I also love Whitianga, Tauranga, Waihi and Auckland because of the Harbour.
I have travelled the world for the past 25 years, so it's a hard one to choose a country I've enjoyed visiting the most, but loved Paris, Germany, France, Singapore, Japan, Noosa Australia, America, London, and China. All countries are different and I really like them in their own way but New Zealand is home.
I first went to the races with my mum on Boxing Day in Rangiora when I was VERY YOUNG. I liked the horses; the way the people yell and cheered and especially the hot dogs.
I was introduced to David and Karyn by Paul Wilcox in February and after starting with two horses I now have six.
I like meeting people, fashion, travel and drinking bubbles, having fun and winning.
I love horses for the beautiful way they move and even the smell of them, better than smelly sheep or cows, and winning. I have only just got into the racing.
I have a few companies, share market, and import goods.
My favourite pet has been a red boxer that I had for 14 years and now I have a King Charles Poodle called Queenie. She is such a lady but loves farming as well as city life.
Architecture designs and plans on new buildings are my favourite subjects of reading
I have had many memorable dining experiences: too many to choose from over the years. But a recent one I really enjoyed was in Singapore, up in the air in a restaurant shaped like a boat that overlooked the gardens. In Paris, next door to the Louvre and the last few weeks in Noosa on Hastings Street and by the pool eating king prawns.
