Te Akau Pakenham Thursday Preview

Te Akau Racing has three horses entered on Thursday 9 April at Pakenham (Melbourne).

Pakenham:

Weather: showers, track: Good4, rail: true. No rain forecast.

7:15 p.m. (NZ) - 5:15 p.m. (Vic) R1 12 Wonderful Sky (2 f Ole Kirk – Medic) – Ethan Brown; she produced a very good effort for a close second after racing handily on the inner when debuting in the Maiden 2YO 1100 metres here on 19 March, and contests the A$45,000 Maiden 2YO Fillies 1100 metres. Beautifully bred by young Written Tycoon sire son Ole Kirk, she is out of the Snitzel mare Medic, a sister to Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) winner and Australian Champion 2YO Estijaab. Based on her last start performance, and the manner in which she has trained on since, she rates a top three chance from barrier one. NZ TAB fixed odds: $2.80 & $1.45.

7.45 p.m. (NZ) - 5:45 p.m. (Vic) R2 8 Merrow (3 f Ancient Spirit – Erin’s Babe) – Ethan Brown; she sustained a good finishing gallop to finish second, after sharing the pace three-wide, in a trial on 26 March at Caulfield, and debuts in the A$45,000 Maiden 2YO Fillies 1200 metres. A product of White Robe Lodge (NZ), her dam Erin’s Babe (Raise The Flag) won over 1600 metres, and this filly shapes to race well first-up. NZ TAB fixed odds: $21.00 & $3.90.

10:15 p.m. (NZ) - 8:15 p.m. (Vic) R7 7 Kiwi Raider (3 f Per Incanto – Anaween) – Ethan Brown; she quickened off heels to stylishly win a jump out on 30 March at Cranbourne, and resumes in the A$40,000 0–62 Handicap 1000 metres. A second-up winner over 1000 metres in September with Brown aboard on that occasion too, she has the ability to race well fresh, and is nicely drawn (3) to make an impact in this field. NZ TAB fixed odds: $1.90 & $1.15.
