Te Akau Pukekohe Midweek Previewohe

Te Akau Racing has four horses entered on Wednesday 28 October at Pukekohe.

Pukekohe:

Weather: showery, track: Good4, rail: out 7 metres. 2mls rain forecast Tuesday and no rain Wednesday.

3:09 p.m. R5 7 She Means Business (4 m Circus Maximus – Risque Business) – Michael McNab; she got back from her outside gate, improved three-wide with cover to the 600m, and quickened down the outside with a strong finish for second in a trial on 6 October at Matamata.  The half-sister to the Te Akau trained winner of six races It’s Business Time (Turn Me Loose), she resumes in the $25,000 Maiden 1200 metres. She has finished fourth in all three career starts, was good in her preparatory trial and shapes to race well if Michael can navigate a decent trip from barrier nine. Fixed odds: $4.60 & $1.90.

4:19 p.m. R7 13 Figurine (3 f Ole Kirk – Quintuple Twins) – Hayley Hassman; she was allowed to find her feet back on the inner, was six lengths off the leaders at the 600m, and was not put under any pressure when holding her spot in midfield when trialling on 6 October at Matamata, with Hayley aboard then too. Debuting in the $25,000 Maiden 3YO 1200 metres, she is by the Australian Champion 3YO Colt Ole Kirk (Written Tycoon), and her dam Quintuple Twins (Sebring) won five times (1200m – 1600m). She has been solid through her trials’ stage, and expect a solid performance first-up. Fixed odds: $15.00 & $4.00. Also entered in Race 5 & 6.

4:54 p.m. R8 9 Petite Rocher (4 m Grunt – Little Rock) – Hayley Hassman (a1); she was given a lovely ride by Hayley when finishing strongly to win the Pearl Series Maiden Fillies & Mares 1200 metres on 9 October at Taupo, and contests the $25,000 Rating 65 1200 metres. The model of consistency, she placed in four of her seven starts before winning, and is more than capable of measuring up in the next grade as long as she negates her tricky barrier (9). Fixed odds: $9.50 & $2.90.

5:29 p.m. R9 9 Passion ‘N’ Pride (4 m Darci Brahma – Sweet Hunter) – Cooper Stumbles (a4); she was given a good ride by our apprentice Cooper to win the Maiden 1600 metres on 14 October at Tauranga, and contests the $25,000 Rating 65 1600 metres. She’s put together a good record, brings winning form, has the plus of weight relief to 52.5kg, and is ideally drawn (2) to prove competitive up in grade. Fixed odds: $4.50 & $1.90.
