Te Akau Pukekohe Monday Preview

Te Akau Racing has five horses entered on Monday 20 December at Pukekohe.

Weather: cloudy, track: Slow8, rail: out 7 metres. No rain forecast.

11.39 a.m. R1 1 Fellini  (2 g Belardo - Silke Top) - Opie Bosson; debuted with a brave third off a wide run in a 2YO 1000 metres on 23 October at Matamata, won by subsequent stakes' placed Mascarinto (Per Incanto). Given time (58 days), he sustained a strong run to win at the trials on 29 November at Matamata, and resumes in the $15,000 Maiden 2YO 1000 metres. From barrier one, he rates a top three chance - one of a stable duo to contest the event.

11.39 a.m. R1 8 Bellano (2 f Savabeel - Glee) - Danielle Johnson; began smartly from barrier one to co-lead and remained balanced while sustaining a top gallop to win at the trials on 29 November at Matamata. Debuting in the $15,000 Maiden 2YO 1000 metres, she's from the family of Daffodil (No Excuse Needed), Champion 3YO in New Zealand, she rates a top three prospect from barrier four.

12.13 p.m. R2 2 Time Flies  (2 g Time Test - Rorippa) - Opie Bosson; won both trials, including over subsequent impressive winning stable-mate Bright Blue Sky (Fastnet Rock), and debuts in the $15,000 Maiden 2YO 1000 metres. He is from the first crop of Time Test (Dubawi), who boasts three stakes' wins among 14 victories in Europe, out of Rorippa (Towkay), who won three times at 1200 metres. Ideally drawn (5), he possesses the credentials to race well first-up in a race again with two stable representatives.

12.13 p.m. R2 10 French Rose (2 f Burgundy - Paraiba) - Danielle Johnson; began smartly from the widest gate before steadying outside the leader and sustained a top run for second at the trials on 29 November at Matamata. Also debuting in the $15,000 Maiden 2YO 1000 metres, she should race well with a dose of luck from barrier nine.

5.24 p.m. R11 13 Illicit Miss (3 f Hinchinbrook - Unlawful) - Danielle Johnson; slipped clear nearing the home turn and charged away to win impressively when trialling on 4 November at Matamata, before a debut sixth placing after racing outside the leader in a Maiden 1200 metres on 24 November at Tauranga. Given time (26 days), she rates a top three chance from barrier three in the $15,000 Maiden 1400 metres.
