3.09 p.m. R6 6 Grand Ariana (2 f Snitzel - Enduja) - Shafiq Rusof; was urged along before coming from a long way back to win Maiden 2YO 1200 metres on debut at Waipukurau, earlier this month, with Shafiq aboard on Slow8 footing. Up in class to contest the $50,000 Auckland Futurity Stakes (Listed, 1400m), it appears a test of who handles the conditions best. Prior to winning, she displayed plenty of determination in tight quarters for a close third when trialling on Heavy10 at Waipa, which would seem the best indicator. Fixed odds: $4.80 & $1.65.

3.49 p.m. R7 6 Lady Painton (5 m Tavistock - Lady Verify) - Tegan Newman (a4); beat a strong field here on Slow9 footing in the Rating 70 1400 metres on 4 May, with Newman aboard. Claiming to 52kgs (53.5kgs last time), she strikes a field of similar strength in the $25,000 Rating 75 1600 metres and can be afforded each way prospects again. Fixed odds: $5.00 & $1.75.
