Te Akau Pukekohe Preview
29 November, 2016
Te Akau New Zealand has four horses racing on Wednesday 30 November at Pukekohe.
As on Tuesday 29 November the conditions were: cloudy and Dead5, rail out 4 metres. No rain forecast.
3.53 p.m. R4 2 Alamosa Express (3 g Alamosa - Danewhisper) - Matt Cameron; showed athleticism and a good action winning a trial by three and a half lengths on Dead6 in October at Waipa, and following one further trial outing he debuts from barrier seven in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres. A half-brother to stable-mate and four time winner Hushed (Don Eduardo) and Secret Whisper (Align), who also won four races, he boasts the attributes to give a sight over a sprint trip fresh up and the pedigree to get over more ground.
3.53 p.m. R4 13 Pure Savalina (3 f Savabeel - Catalina) - Cameron Lammas; worked through the line nicely for third in a recent trial at Cambridge, and makes her debut from barrier six in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres. From the family of the great mare Seamist (Beaufort Sea), her dam, Catalina (Faltaat), won on debut over 1400 metres on good ground before finding her forte over a mile and winning up to 2100 metres. An encouraging performance in this field by each of the two runners should equate to good form.
5.04 p.m. R6 1 Epic Tale (3 g Snitzel - Mini Tales) - Matt Cameron; worked forward to lead before fighting solidly for third in the Maiden 1400 metres on 6 November at Hastings, and has blinkers on in the Maiden 3YO 1400 metres. With the speed to negate a wide draw, some economy in the run should provide an opportunity in this field for further improvement.
5.04 p.m. R6 16 Savvy Lady (3 f Savabeel - Modern Lady) - Cameron Lammas; settling off the pace in each of her two preparatory trials, she makes her debut from barrier five in the Maiden 3YO 1400 metres. With the pedigree to go further, being from the family of City of Auckland Cup (Gr. 2, 2400m) winner Zarius (Zabeel), trained by Mark Walker, rounding off solidly would be ideal.
