Te Akau Pukekohe Saturday Preview
Date: 26 May 2023
Te Akau Racing has three horses entered on Saturday 27 May at Pukekohe.
Weather: fine, track: Heavy10, rail: true. No rain forecast.
12:50 p.m. R2 9 Kai (4 m Ocean Park - Brilliant Blush) - Jess Allen (a4); she resumed with a good effort for third in the Rating 75 1200 metres on 14 May at Matamata, with Allen also aboard on that occasion, and contests the $30,000 Rating 75 1200 metres. She is placed at her only course attempt, and is very consistent with both wins coming on heavy tracks. With weight relief to 50.5kg, she rates a top three chance. Fixed odds: $8.00 & $2.50.
1:26 p.m. R3 7 Egyptian Queen (2 f Zoustar - Hieroglyphics) - Joe Kamaruddin (a); she finished fourth to subsequent Waikato Equine Veterinary Centre 2YO Stakes (Listed, 1200m) winner Solidify (Redwood) on 29 April at Te Rapa, and posted a top run for second to race rival Oneira (Contributer) after beginning awkwardly in the Maiden 2YO 1200 metres on 14 May at Matamata. Contesting the $80,000 Barfoot & Thompson Auckland Futurity Stakes (Listed, 1400m), she brings the right form to this contest to be a top three prospect as the market reflects. Fixed odds: $3.80 & $1.40.
2:04 p.m. R4 2 Kabugee (3 g Satono Aladdin - Kabuki) - Warren Kennedy; he resumed winning the 3YO 1200 metres on 23 April at Awapuni, and was unfortunately checked at a vital stage (450m) when finishing fourth to stable-mate Accidental Tourist (Telperion) in the 3YO 1400 metres on 13 May at Rotorua. He delivered notable efforts here in both the Bonecrusher Stakes (Gr. 3, 1400m) and Uncle Remus Stakes (Listed, 1400m), and he presents as a realistic top three proposition in the $30,000 3YO 1400 metres. Fixed odds: $4.50 & $1.60.
